I'm Baaaaaaaaaack!

Well, it has been a very long time since I have written a blog entry.  There was no real reason that I didn't keep up but I felt like I had nothing important to say.  But then I figured, hey, I'm writing this blog for me.  I can say anything I want to say.  Really this blog is for ME to keep track of my journey as I try to lose weight and become healthy.  I hope that a few others might find this blog and might find it interesting but if not, that's OK too!

Some things that have happened since I last posted:
1.  School is out for the summer.  Enough said!
2.  The fiance and I have decided to put our house up for sale.  We LOVE our house but it really is too big for two people and the utilities are killing us.
3.  The fiance and I have had some major struggles.  We had a serious "it's over if things don't change on both our parts" talk and though we still have issues, things have been much better.  We both needed to work on our relationship and we are.
4.  I started an instagram account to keep track of my journey: melissa2bfit

So for now I am planning on only posting once per week (Sunday or Monday?) and seeing how that works.

So let's get on to some fun stuff....food!

Tuesday I was ALL IN with breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I even had an iced coffee as a snack in the afternoon and it was sooooo good.  I love being off in the summer and being able to actually prepare a decent breakfast and lunch.  I need to start thinking about how that will work when school rolls around.  One thing I find myself doing with lunches is eating the same thing for a week and then changing it up.  One reason is because if I buy say salad mix, I'm the only one eating it.  I can't let it go bad.  So, salad for a week it is.

Tuesday night I prepared overnight oats in a jar and the fiance looked at me like I was a lunatic.  After stirring it all up, I began to think he was correct.  But Wednesday morning rolled around and I dug in.  It took me a good four spoonfuls to "get" the texture.  But once I did, I truly enjoyed them.  I felt full on them and I knew I was eating something that was fueling my body.  So OIAJ (oats in a jar) will be happening again for breakfast.

Wednesday afternoon the fiance and his buddy ordered Pizza Hut.  I ate what is pictured below and felt great.  I had a little chuckle when the fiance picked up his pizza slice, squeezed it in half and the grease just ran down to the plate.  Yes, allow me to enjoy my salad, fajitas and grapes.  You go ahead with that nasty greasy pizza.

Well, there you have it.  I am trying to get back in the blogging game again.  I'll check in on Sunday with the progress for the rest of the week.

My OCD Got The Best Of Me

My bathroom needed a deeeep cleaning after an unfortunate incident Wednesday night. Within five minutes of each other, we both had a major stomach virus hit us. Since then, I knew a major cleaning was in order. So today I broke out all the cleaning tools and went to town. Towards the end of cleaning I realized how much I hated our curtains and shower curtain. They had been left by the previous owner and were not my taste.

After a quick trip to the store I yanked down the curtains and put up a new shower curtain. I'm still planning on painting the walls and vanity this summer...but this is still a major improvement!

My quest continued by cleaning out my makeup drawer and linen closet.

I'm tackling my closet tomorrow! Pictures to follow.

Monday April 14

Phillip called me "makeup girl" this morning. I couldn't decide if that was a compliment or not! He told me I looked really nice...that's because I actually spent time doing my makeup this morning.

Breakfast was a simple smoothie:

Had a little snack this morning because I was getting hungry around 10 am.

Lunch was packed last night and easy to grab this morning (chicken with mixed steamed veggie plus strawberries and grapes).  I'm also going to try and drink that water today but going to the bathroom at school is sometimes a problem!:

Dinner was quick and simple (Aldi's pizza plus a caesar salad):

Overall it was a good day. The kids were so amazing today and I made sure to tell them how much I appreciate them. However, I am glad to only have three more work days this week.

Today I started a blog!  It was on a complete whim but I feel like I need a good kick in the pants to keep going with my weight loss journey.  I'm really trying to do this to stay accountable to myself.  I find that when I document/log things I tend to be more focused.  If you would like to read along with me, great!  I welcome your friendly comments and feedback as well.

This week's fitness schedule:
Monday - YMCA for light cardio and arms
Tuesday - Zumba
Wednesday - Zumba
Thursday - Zumba
Friday - YMCA for light cardio and arms
Saturday - cardio plus hot tub (!)
Sunday - off enjoying Easter with the family

I will be posting my weekly menu on tomorrow's blog but will start trying to post it on Sunday also.
